We all know that one of the primal urges when at Burning Man is "What is it, and can I climb on it?" our camp will try to fill that urge in the most interactive way we could think of... with a contraption we like to call TwistHanger.
TwistHanger combines the fun and excitement of climbing on stuff, with the age-old fun of twister... Then in true Burning Man spirit, we add competition, lights and interactivity, making it usable both daytime and nighttime. TwistHanger features over 500 square feet of climbing holds of varying difficulty, making the structure functional and entertaining for both beginner and advanced climbers. We then take it to the next level with interactive climbing games!
We've taken the concept of Climbing Twister to the next level. We began construction in April 2018 and TwistHanger made its debut at Black Rock City for Burning Man 2018. TwistHanger sports over 500 square feet of climbing holds, making it one of the largest rock climbing structures on the Playa!
Engineering TwistHanger was a labor of love, coupled with lots of trial and error. From the engineering to the construction, the mechanics to electronics, everything about TwistHanger has been designed and built from the scratch. TwistHanger is completely self contained, sporting 4 solar panels across the top which generates all the power needed to run both day and night. We spent months thinking and rethinking about the best way to bring our concept to life, and we think we've built something incredibly fun and exciting!
